Acupuncture is a holistic therapy rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that views the body as an interconnected system. By stimulating specific points along the body’s energy pathways, known as meridians, acupuncture helps restore the flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”), the vital energy that nourishes and sustains our health. In the context of pelvic floor recovery, acupuncture offers several benefits:

Muscle and Tissue Restoration: Acupuncture can target the pelvic floor muscles, stimulating blood circulation and promoting tissue repair. By improving muscle tone and flexibility, acupuncture helps restore the strength and functionality of the pelvic floor, reducing pain and discomfort.

Hormonal Balance: Hormonal changes can contribute to pelvic floor issues, particularly in women during pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause. Acupuncture works to rebalance hormonal levels, supporting overall pelvic health and aiding in the recovery process.

Stress and Anxiety Reduction: Chronic stress and anxiety can exacerbate pelvic floor dysfunction. Acupuncture sessions promote relaxation, calm the mind, and reduce stress levels, creating a conducive environment for healing and recovery.

Nerve Regulation: Acupuncture has been found to regulate the nervous system, which plays a significant role in pelvic floor function. By improving nerve signaling and reducing nerve sensitivity, acupuncture helps alleviate pain and supports optimal pelvic floor health. Unlike Kegel exercises that focus primarily on muscle contraction, acupuncture provides comprehensive stimulation for all pelvic floor muscles, including those that may be difficult to target through Kegel movements alone.

Choosing acupuncture for pelvic floor recovery means embracing a natural and empowering approach to healing. It allows you to take an active role in your well-being while addressing the root causes of your symptoms.
It is important to note that acupuncture is most effective as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Consulting with a healthcare professional specializing in pelvic floor health can help determine the best approach for your specific needs. Integrating acupuncture into your pelvic floor recovery journey may lead to transformative results, helping you reclaim control over your body and live life to the fullest.

Asthma is a chronic lung condition that affects the respiratory system, causing inflammation of the airways. It often starts in childhood and can affect both children and adults long-term. Common asthma symptoms include shortness of breath, wheezing, and an allergy cough that is often more pronounced in the morning and evening. Allergy triggers like dust mites and ragweed can cause asthma symptoms to flare up, as well as changes in temperature, strong aerobic exercise, and viral respiratory infections. Asthma attacks can be frightening, causing chest pain, coughing, wheezing, and a feeling of drowning.

Conventional medicine manages asthma attacks due to seasonal allergies with inhalers, corticosteroids, and antihistamines. While these medications can help relieve hay fever symptoms and prevent asthma attacks, they do not address the immune system imbalances that are the root cause of asthma and allergies. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) have been clinically shown to help reduce symptoms and improve the overall quality of life when used in conjunction with conventional medical therapy.

Asthma may never go away completely, but it can be managed so effectively that it no longer has a negative impact on your life. Symptoms of asthma include coughing frequently, wheezing, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, and chest tightness. Nocturnal asthma, where symptoms worsen at night, can affect sleep quality. To diagnose asthma, a doctor may perform lung function tests using a spirometer, allergy testing, and an x-ray to determine the cause of lung damage.

According to TCM theory, asthma is a result of energy imbalances or deficiencies in the lungs and kidneys, causing excess wind and phlegm to get trapped in the airways. Acupuncture treatment focuses on strengthening the kidneys and lungs and clearing phlegm and wind from the system. Studies have shown that acupuncture treatment can reduce respiratory resistance and significantly reduce symptoms and medication needs in children with asthma.

Why is asthma worse at night?

The precise reason for the increase in asthma symptoms during the night, known as “nocturnal asthma,” has not been medically proven, but it is probably due to a combination of factors:

The cooler air entering the bronchial passages

Increase of allergens like pollen in the air

Exposure to dust mites or pet dander in the bed

Reclining the sleep position makes it harder to breathe

Hormone secretions that occur during sleep

Nighttime asthma can really affect your ability to get enough quality sleep.

Asthma affects the lungs and bronchial tubes.

Many of the symptoms of asthma are similar to those of an allergic reaction. However, seasonal allergies usually also cause symptoms like head congestion, runny nose, itching inside the mouth, throat, and ears, sinus pain, and postnasal drip. Asthma doesn’t cause these sorts of upper respiratory symptoms because it is a condition of the lungs and bronchial tubes.

In order to make a definitive diagnosis of asthma, a doctor will usually perform tests that determine your lung function. A spirometer is a tool that helps determine how much air you are able to inhale and exhale. If you are able to inhale better after being given medication from an inhaler, then it will be concluded that you probably have asthma. An x-ray can show whether the bronchial tubes are blocked and determine whether there might be some other cause for lung damage, such as pneumonia or tuberculosis. Often people will also be given allergy testing to determine what triggers may affect their breathing.

Can Acupuncture Help Asthma?

According to TCM theory, the lungs control inhaling, while the kidneys control exhaling. Lung Qi (energy) should move downward, while Liver Qi should move upward, and these energies work in harmony. Asthma is the result of one or all of these energies entering into a state of imbalance or deficiency. Excess wind and/or phlegm get trapped in the lungs and airways, creating obstructions and producing the wheezing and shortness of breath associated with asthma. Acupuncture treatment focuses largely on strengthening the kidneys and lungs, and clearing phlegm and wind from the system.

Many studies determined that acupuncture treatment reduced “respiratory resistance,” helping to open up the bronchial tubes.

Asthma attacks are genuinely frightening, and when severe, can even be life-threatening. It is important that people with asthma have emergency inhalant medications to help them in the event of a serious asthma attack. However, the regular use of steroid medications comes with other risks. Corticosteroids can suppress normal immune function, affect the adrenal hormones, and actually increase inflammation. These unwanted side effects may be especially concerning for young children with asthma. Chinese herbs offer a safe alternative to steroids, having been used for thousands of years with no negative side effects. Herbal supplementation is also a crucial component of TCM treatment for asthma and allergies. Research has shown that classic TCM herbal formulations for asthma provide many therapeutic benefits, including reducing hyperreactivity in the bronchial tubes, reducing inflammation of the lungs and tubes, and calming muscle contractions around the airways. One study specifically focused on children with asthma concluded that patients who were given a specific TCM herb combination showed significant improvement over a 12-week period when compared to a control group of children who received a placebo instead.

<pstyle="padding-top:20px;">Nighttime asthma can really affect your ability to get enough quality sleep.

Acupuncture has been shown to be an effective treatment for infertility in both men and women. Here are some of the ways in which acupuncture can help improve fertility:

Regulating hormone levels: Acupuncture can help regulate the hormones involved in the reproductive cycle, including follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estrogen, and progesterone. By regulating these hormones, acupuncture can help improve ovulation and increase the chances of the successful implantation of a fertilized egg.

Increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs: Acupuncture can help increase blood flow to the uterus, ovaries, and testes, which can help improve the health of these organs and increase fertility.

Improving egg and sperm quality: Acupuncture can help improve the quality of eggs and sperm by increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs and reducing oxidative stress, which can damage cells and contribute to infertility.

Reducing stress and anxiety: Stress and anxiety can interfere with fertility by disrupting hormone levels and decreasing blood flow to the reproductive organs. Acupuncture can help reduce stress and anxiety, improving fertility by promoting hormone balance and increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs.

Improving overall reproductive function: Acupuncture can help improve overall reproductive function by enhancing the body’s natural healing processes and improving the health of the reproductive organs.

The length of time it takes to get acupuncture treatment for infertility can vary depending on the individual case and the underlying causes of infertility. Generally, acupuncture treatment for infertility is done in a series of weekly sessions over the course of several months.

For women who are trying to conceive, acupuncture treatment may begin a few months before attempting to conceive in order to help prepare the body for pregnancy. Acupuncture treatment may continue throughout pregnancy to help support a healthy pregnancy and prevent miscarriage.

For men who are experiencing infertility, acupuncture treatment may be started at any time and may continue for several months, depending on the underlying causes of infertility.

Hormonal imbalances can occur when there is a disruption in the body’s natural balance of hormones, which can affect ovulation and fertility.

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points in the body, which can trigger the release of hormones and other chemicals that help regulate the endocrine system. By targeting these specific points, acupuncture can help balance hormone levels and improve reproductive function.

For example, acupuncture can help regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, which controls the menstrual cycle and ovulation. By stimulating specific points, acupuncture can help regulate the production of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which are involved in ovulation.

Acupuncture can also help regulate other hormones that are important for fertility, such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. By balancing these hormones, acupuncture can improve the quality of eggs and sperm, increase the thickness of the uterine lining, and increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.

Acupuncture is a therapeutic approach that has been used for centuries to treat various ailments, including migraine headaches. The treatment works by inserting thin needles into specific acupoints on the body to stimulate the nervous system, balance the body’s energy flow, and promote healing.

Here are some of the ways in which acupuncture can help treat migraines:

Reducing inflammation: One theory suggests that migraines are caused by inflammation in the brain. Acupuncture can help reduce inflammation by stimulating the release of natural anti-inflammatory substances in the body.

Regulating blood flow: Migraines are often associated with changes in blood flow in the brain. Acupuncture can help regulate blood flow by dilating blood vessels, improving circulation, and reducing muscle tension.

Boosting endorphins: Endorphins are natural painkillers produced by the body. Acupuncture can stimulate the production of endorphins, which can help reduce the pain and discomfort associated with migraines.

Decreasing stress: Stress is a common trigger for migraines. Acupuncture can help decrease stress and promote relaxation by reducing the body’s sympathetic nervous system activity and increasing parasympathetic nervous system activity.

Improving sleep quality: Poor sleep quality can also trigger migraines. Acupuncture can improve sleep quality by promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety.

Another way in which acupuncture can help treat migraines is by releasing pressure on the greater occipital nerve, which is often involved in migraine headaches. The greater occipital nerve runs from the base of the skull to the top of the neck and can become compressed or irritated, leading to pain and other symptoms.

Acupuncture can help release pressure on the greater occipital nerve by stimulating the muscles and connective tissues in the surrounding area. By releasing tension in these tissues, acupuncture can help reduce stress on the nerve, which can relieve pain and other symptoms associated with migraines. Additionally, acupuncture can help improve the area’s circulation, promoting healing and reducing inflammation that may contribute to nerve compression. In many cases, patients may experience instant relief from migraine symptoms after an acupuncture session.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese healing practice that has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of ailments. It involves inserting thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body in order to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. While acupuncture has become increasingly popular in the West in recent years, it remains a core component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is widely used in China and other parts of the world.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

In TCM, acupuncture is based on the idea that the body’s vital energy, or qi (pronounced “chee”), flows through channels called meridians. When this flow is disrupted, it can lead to pain, illness, and other health problems. By inserting needles into specific points along the meridians, acupuncturists can help to restore the flow of qi and promote healing.

From a Western perspective, acupuncture may help to stimulate the release of endorphins and other natural painkillers, as well as increase blood flow to the affected area. It may also help to modulate the activity of the autonomic nervous system, which controls functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion.

What Does Acupuncture Treat?

Acupuncture is commonly used to treat a wide range of conditions, including:

Pain: Acupuncture is often used to treat chronic pain conditions such as back pain, neck pain, and osteoarthritis. It may also be used to treat acute pain from injuries or surgeries.

Anxiety and depression: Acupuncture may help to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, and may be used as an adjunct to other forms of therapy.

Digestive issues: Acupuncture may help to regulate digestion and relieve symptoms of conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and acid reflux.

Women’s health: Acupuncture may be used to treat menstrual cramps, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and other women’s health issues.

Respiratory issues: Acupuncture may help to relieve symptoms of conditions such as asthma and allergies.

Insomnia: Acupuncture may be used to help improve sleep quality and duration, and may be an effective treatment option for insomnia.

Headaches and migraines: Acupuncture may be used to treat chronic headaches and migraines, and may help to reduce the frequency and severity of these conditions.

Infertility: Acupuncture may be used as a complementary therapy for infertility, and may help to improve fertility outcomes in both men and women.

Addiction: Acupuncture may be used to help alleviate symptoms of addiction and aid in recovery from substance abuse.

Skin conditions: Acupuncture may be used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including eczema, acne, and psoriasis.

Fatigue: Acupuncture may be used to help improve energy levels and reduce feelings of fatigue and exhaustion.

Side effects of cancer treatment: Acupuncture may be used to help manage side effects of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation, including nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and pain.

Stroke rehabilitation: Acupuncture may be used to aid in stroke rehabilitation and may help to improve motor function and reduce muscle spasticity.

High blood pressure: Acupuncture may be used as a complementary therapy to help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Immune system support: Acupuncture may be used to help support the immune system and may be an effective treatment option for conditions such as allergies and chronic infections.

Mental health disorders: Acupuncture may be used to help alleviate symptoms of a variety of mental health disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and bipolar disorder.

Is Acupuncture Safe?

When performed by a trained and licensed acupuncturist, acupuncture is generally considered to be safe. The needles used are very thin and are inserted just below the surface of the skin, so the risk of injury or infection is low. However, as with any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects, and it is important to discuss any concerns with your acupuncturist before beginning treatment.

Infertility is considered as the inability to conceive in a sexually active couple who are trying to get pregnant for one year. 8-12% of the couples in the world are facing problems with infertility, and in these modern times, the per cent is getting bigger. 20% of the cases are due to both male, and female factor. Problems that are possible to arise in men are abnormal sperm, low sperm motility or low sperm count. Causes can be genetic factors, long-term use of steroids, age, obesity, stress, and inflammation of the testicles, cystic fibrosis, diabetes and other diseases. In women problems that can arise are a polycystic ovarian syndrome, hyperprolactinemia, thyroid problems, hormonal imbalance, poor egg quality, cancer, AIDS, etc. Risk factors and causes are age, obesity, eating disorders, smoking, alcohol, stress, infections and other.

By the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) infertility occurs due to disrupted vital balance and blockages in the Qi energy and Blood circulation flow. When the free flow of the energy is blocked, it can cause deficiency, stagnancy or heat syndrome.

Deficiency syndrome is blocking and disrupting the sexual and reproductive function both in men and women.

The stagnancy syndrome disables the free flow of the energy and Blood and restricts it from circulation to the tissues in the reproductive organs.

The heat syndrome is connected to inflammation processes which have an impact on semen quality and gynecological infections.

All three syndromes can be treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine, concretely with acupuncture and herbs. When it is known which syndrome to treat, and the problem is solved, the body returns to health and conception may happen naturally. TCM sees every patient as unique, and the treatment is made by their current condition and constitution. With such a long history for more than 5000 years, TCM is highly effective with no side effects. Acupuncture as part of the TCM as a treatment for infertility is used for a very long time.

With the insertion of tiny sterile needles into acupoints located at specific points on the body the way the body functions can be regulated and the problem that affects fertility can be addressed. Acupuncture treatment can balance the hormones, strengthen the immune system, regulate the energy and Blood flow, remove the stasis and phlegm and stimulate the nervous system. With a combination of acupuncture and herbs, it is possible to improve the ovarian and follicular function and increase the blood flow to the endometrium.

The points used in the treatment were chosen with the aim to help the patients to improve the energy flow to the reproductive organs, warm the Blood for better circulation and remove the blockages that cause stagnation in the flow. Ovarian cysts can occur because of stagnation in the Liver Qi, caused by excessive dampness. Excessive dampness is caused by blood stasis and fluids accumulated in the abdomen which slowly becomes phlegm. Accumulation of phlegm and fluids in the lower body is a problem of the Kidney Yang, i.e., a failure of the Kidney to send the water upward. When the water stays in the lower body, then it transforms into phlegm. Therefore, the Kidney fails to support the Liver. The main function of the Liver and Kidney meridians is to remove the toxins from the body. If this function is weakened, then the immune system can be disturbed, and abnormal immune reactions may be triggered by the growth of abnormal tissue in the female reproductive organs. In TCM, if there is no good and free blood circulation in the body, blood stagnation can occur and lead to disease.

When the cysts are formed because of accumulated water and fluids, the three principal methods of treatments are: (1) to warm the Kidney with the aim to prevent further accumulation; (2) resolve the phlegm masses, and (3) restore normal blood circulation to the affected area.

In TCM, infertility in male patients is also a problem of Liver Qi stagnation, Kidney deficiency and accumulation of dampness and heat in the lower abdomen. Therefore, the treatment protocol is the same in both patients. The treatment in both patients aims to remove the liver toxins, dissolve blood stagnations in the liver, nourish the Kidney Qi, invigorate the Blood, lower stress and stimulate the whole body to function better.

In conclusion, acupuncture as a treatment for infertility shows great results both in man and women. Acupuncture can be considered as successful treatment in restoring fertility in the patients, by improving the sperm quality and ovary’s function and balancing the endocrine system and hormones.

With the development of medicine, people are more and more aware of the relationship between migraine and the greater occipital nerve.

The greater occipital nerve is the medial branch of the dorsal rami of the 2nd cervical nerve. The second cervical nerve comes from the intervertebral foramen formed by the combination of the shallow groove between the posterior arch of the atlas and the lamina of the axis vertebrae, then it goes below the inferior oblique muscle, and divides into a smaller lateral branch and a larger medial branch. The lateral branch innervates splenius capitis, longissimus capitus, and semispinatus capitis, and the medial branch constitutes the greater occipital nerve, which goes obliquely to the inside and then passes through the semispinalis capitulus to the outside, deep to the trapezius aponeurosis. After coming out, it passes through the aponeurosis and the deep fascia of the neck to subcutaneous, divides into several branches, accompanies the branches of the occipital artery and vein, distributes from the upper nuchal line to the skin of the top of the skull, and extends forward to the upper part of the frontal orbit .

Due to the accumulated stress of the neck, cold stimulation, etc., the tension of the neck muscles is unbalanced, which leads to the dislocation of the upper cervical joints, especially the instability and dislocation of the atlantoaxial joints, which can easily deform the posterior intervertebral foramen, reduce the volume, and compress Or stimulate the second pair of cervical spinal nerves to cause greater occipital neuralgia; or long-term strain causes neck muscle tension, fascia hypertrophy, muscle fibrosis, etc. to compress the greater occipital nerve that passes through it, causing neurological symptoms; The stimulation of nerve endings by inflammation may also induce greater occipital neuralgia.

Therefore, the dislocation of the upper cervical joints, especially the disordered stimulation or compression of the C2 spinal nerve or neck muscle fascia tension, contracture, local inflammation and other stimuli, and neuralgia induced by compression of the greater occipital nerve are the causes of the disease. According to the etiology, migraine can treated by correcting the disordered upper cervical joints, improving the position of the C2 nerve root, eliminating the abnormal stress of the cervical muscles. And the minimally invasive Pi needle is used to loosen the tense and contracted cervical and occipital fascia by using the principle of tension reduction, so as to improve Local circulation promotes the absorption of inflammation, unblocks the nerves, restores its normal conduction, and relieves head and neck symptoms. The combination of the two achieves the effect of “softening the bones and tendons”. It takes into account the balance of the overall strength of the spine, so patient can often see the stady and fast effect comparing many other treatments.
